The noise around five-time Olympian Patty Mills potentially returning to the NBL has been getting louder in recent weeks, with one team in particular ready to make a play for the NBA champion.
CODE Sports reported on Tuesday that the ‘Perth Wildcats are preparing to make a play’ for Mills, saying:
“CODE Sports can reveal the Wildcats will attempt to sign Mills as the club’s marquee man.
“Although signing the champion guard won’t be easy, the club plans to submit an offer.
“It is believed the veteran guard wanted a guarantee regarding members of his team travelling with the NBL side while also requiring specific accommodation.”
The 37-year-old is currently playing in Spain for La Laguna Tenerife, averaging over 17 points in six games.
ESPN’s Olgun Uluc has previously reported on The Marketplace, presented by Paywise, that Mills had become open to a return to the NBL for the first time in a while, with the appeal of being close to friends and family.
While the Wildcats continue their pursuit of Mills, CODE Sports also revealed that the previous links to the Brisbane Bullets ‘appear to have stalled’.
It’s understood that the Bullets and Mills’ representatives had engaged in conversation about returning to the NBL, but these discussions have since tapered off.
