REPORT: Two-time champion inks deal with Wildcats

Perth are reportedly bringing back Angus Brandt, reuniting the two-time NBL champion with the club that helped shape his title-winning career.

The Perth Wildcats have reportedly bolstered their front court for the Hungry Jack's 2026-27 Season, by signing a two-time NBL champion.

According to ESPN's Olgun Uluc, the Wildcats have agreed to terms with Angus Brandt on a one-year deal.

Big man Brandt, who was most recently playing in Japan with Veltex Shizuoka, helped the Wildcats win both the NBL17 and NBL19 titles.

The Penrith Panthers junior played four years at US college Oregon State, before returning to the NBL for his rookie season in 2014-15 with his hometown Sydney Kings.

The 6'10 Australian went on to win the NBL's Rookie of the Year award that season, which was the first of two campaigns with the Kings.

A season in Lithuania with Neptūnas Klaipėda followed, before returning to the NBL for a three-year stint with the Wildcats.

Since then, the Australian Boomer has played in China (Neptūnas Klaipėda), Italy (Pistoia Basket 2000) and Japan (Shiga Lakestars, Kagawa Five Arrows, Ibaraki Robots and Shinshu Brave Warriors).

During his time in the NBL, the now 36-year-old has made 143 appearances and produced averages of 7.9 points and 4.5 rebounds.

He joins John Rillie's side, which also features Kristian Doolittle, Jo Lual-Acuil Jr., Elijah Pepper, Jaron Rillie, Jesse Wagstaff, Dylan Windler, Alex Higgins-Titsha and Cameron Huefner.

The Wildcats open their campaign on Saturday, September 19 against South East Melbourne at RAC Arena.
