Star import forward Zylan Cheatham has agreed to a two-year contract extension with the Adelaide 36ers.

The ladder-leading Adelaide 36ers have locked in one of the NBL26 season’s most talked about players, re-signing import forward Zylan Cheatham on a new two-year deal.

The 30-year-old has played a major role in Adelaide’s fast start. He is averaging 12.3 points, 10.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game, as the 36ers surge to a 15-4 record.

The extension keeps Cheatham in the City of Churches as part of a strong core already signed beyond the 2025–26 season. That group includes Bryce Cotton, Isaac Humphries, Flynn Cameron, Dejan Vasiljevic, Isaac White, Ben Griscti and Michael Harris, who holds an option.

Adelaide continues its NBL26 campaign in Round 14 against the Cairns Taipans.

General Manager of Basketball Operations Matt Weston said the club was delighted to secure Cheatham's signature.

“Zylan has been exceptional for us - on and off the court,” Weston said.

“His professionalism sets the standard, his energy lifts everyone around him, and his leadership has been critical to the strong foundations we’ve built this season.

“He is a competitor and an excellent character to have around the club so we’re thrilled to be able to retain him for another two seasons.”

Cheatham said the decision to re-sign was an easy one.

“I’m really happy with how the season has started, but even more than that, I’m grateful for how welcomed my family and I have been,” he said.

“Adelaide has quickly felt like home. The fans, my teammates, the coaching staff - everyone has made this experience special.

“There’s a real belief within this group, and I’m excited to keep building something meaningful here.”
