The next coaching stop for former Melbourne United mentor Dean Vickerman will be in Japan, with Nagasaki Velca confirming the signing on Friday.
Vickerman, who won three championships during his time in the NBL, announced his departure from United in May, as a way to ‘explore international opportunities’.
The 54-year-old, who spent time with Melbourne, Singapore, New Zealand and Sydney in the NBL, replaces former Breakers coach Mody Maor at the helm.
“I am deeply honoured and excited to be appointed as the next Head Coach of Nagasaki Velca,” Vickerman said via a club statement.
“I look forward to competing in the new B.LEAGUE Premier Division and playing in front of the best fans in the league at Happiness Arena.
“I would like to thank and congratulate coach Mody, his players, and his staff for bringing Velca its first championship.
“My job now is to bring sustained success to this club and challenge for more championships.”
