"Game-changer": Clark signing to shake up championship race

The impact of Ian Clark's signing with the South East Melbourne Phoenix is making waves around the league.

South East Melbourne already sit in second, with a 13-6 record, fuelled by a top three offence and defence.

By adding a proven winner like Clark, who has both NBL and NBA titles to his name, is going to be a "game-changer" for the Heartland club, according to three-time champion Casey Prather.

"That is a major signing. I saw that and I instantly was just like, now they have the chance," Prather said on a recent episode of NBL Now.

"It's going to be a game-changer and I think the league is little shook up by that, because no one expected that news to come out, especially at the time that it did.

"That's one of the biggest signings of the season so far."

Clark is in the mix to make his club debut on Monday night when the Phoenix play Tasmania at MyState Bank Arena from 7.30pm AEDT, live on ESPN.
