"Best season yet": Cotton's year 10 masterclass

NBL champion Mark Worthington believes the NBL26 Season has been five-time MVP Bryce Cotton’s "best" in the NBL.
With five MVPs to his name from his first nine seasons in the NBL, it's fair to say Bryce Cotton has dominated the competition. But in his first season in Adelaide, after leaving the Perth Wildcats who he won three championships with, the American superstar is having arguably his best season in Australia.
The stats back it up too, with the 33-year-old posting career-high marks in assists (7.7) and steals (2), as well as his second-highest points per game total (25.3), while guiding the 36ers to a league-best 19-5 record.
His exceptional play hasn't gone unnoticed, with 2009 NBL champion Mark Worthington calling Cotton's 10th season in Australia his "best".
"This is going to be maybe unpopular opinion, but this has been the best season we've seen of Cotton," Worthington said on Saturday night's broadcast between Cairns and New Zealand.
"Because of his all-round game, not just the scoring. It's the facilitating and what he's done for this Adelaide organisation. I'd say that this has been the best season.
"He's the MVP for me. [Nathan] Sobey and KD (Kendric Davis) are still in the conversation, but we should just appreciate how good he [Cotton] has been this season, because even to say those others are that are close is a little bit insulting.
"He's starting to become a victim of his own greatness."
Cotton's 36ers take on South East Melbourne in a top-of-the-table clash at HoopsFest on Sunday from 2.30pm AEDT (11.30 AWST), live on ESPN and Channel 10.
