Adelaide’s Dejan Vasiljevic has fired back at Damon Lowery over his Phoenix sweep prediction.

Adelaide 36ers star Dejan Vasiljevic has hit back at Damon Lowery’s claim the South East Melbourne Phoenix will sweep the Playoff Series.

Speaking on radio earlier in the week, Lowery claimed the 36ers were too reliant on Bryce Cotton and that the Series would be “over in two games”, drawing a strong response from Vasiljevic.

“We already know Damon Lowery has said a few things … he’s a bit delusional because he thought Melbourne United was the best team in the league ever,” Vasiljevic said on NBL Now. “When you (United) start 9-0 and you get knocked out, I think you did really well on your expert analysis.

“No, obviously we do listen a bit, but we kind of don’t buy into it because it’s an ongoing thing. People love to talk about the city of Adelaide either when we’re losing or when we’re winning, and we just have to put that noise aside and let the basketball do the talking.

“Hopefully we can do that these next two games and get to the Championship and hopefully lift the Championship (trophy).

“It’ll be exciting because a lot of people haven’t been in that kind of situation and been in a Playoff game … the city of Adelaide is ready.”

Adelaide earned a Playoff berth by finishing second in the regular-season standings, but struggled to find their groove late in the year.

Vasiljevic and the 36ers will host the Phoenix on Tuesday night at 7.30pm AEDT at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre, live on ESPN.
