NBL young guns Reyne Smith and Jacob Holt played key roles as an Australian Select team played China in a friendly.
Taipans’ guard Smith had 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists, while Brisbane big man Holt finished with 12 points and 3 rebounds in an 81-91 defeat.
The game also marked a key milestone for Adelaide’s Ben Griscti, having suffered a serious injury in the pre-season last year and returning via the NBL1 recently.
Emmett Adair top scored for Australia with 18 points.
The Chinese tour concludes on Monday night with a clash against the Netherlands.
“I was impressed with the way the guys went out and competed. They never backed down in a hostile environment and played the right way for 40 minutes,” coach Luke Brennan said.
