Fits like a Glove: Sixth Man honours headed to the Heartland?

South East Melbourne’s Owen Foxwell says teammate Angus Glover deserves NBL26’s Sixth Man of the Year Award.
The South East Melbourne Phoenix are arguably the hottest team in the NBL and a large part of that is their balanced offence.
While star Nathan Sobey rightfully gets a lot of plaudits for that, another key factor in the Phoenix’s league-leading offence is Angus Glover.
The 27-year-old wing is averaging career-high marks in points (11.5), free-throw percentage (84.2) and steals (0.8) this season off the bench.
As a result, numerous experts around the league are calling for the two-time champion to be the Sixth Man of the Year.
“I have Gus being the Best Sixth Man and it’s been a nice campaign for him to win,” Phoenix teammate Owen Foxwell said in Saturday’s post-game press conference.
“He deserves it with the incredible basketball he's been playing.
“We have a team full of world-class shooters around me and he’s one of them. It’s fun playing with guys like Gus, who make everyone’s jobs easier.”
Those sentiments were echoed by Cairns coach Adam Forde, who crossed paths with Glover during their time together in Sydney.
“Angus Glover to me is the Best Sixth Man [this season],” Forde said.
“That's the type of player they (South East Melbourne) can go to on the bench [and every team wants].”
Glover and his 19-8 Phoenix travel to Perth on Wednesday for an Ignite Cup showdown with the Wildcats, tipping off at 9.30pm AEDT, live on ESPN.
