An Australian Boomers and NBA star could be set for a return to where it all started, in the NBL.

While the Championship Series is set to be as exciting as ever, the off-season is well underway for the eight teams whose seasons are over.

It’s during this time that many names and whispers begin to swirl around the NBL landscape and according to Pete Hooley, one of those is a very familiar face.

“NBL clubs have contacted Joe Ingles and his representation in effort to bring him home next season.” Hooley published on X on Wednesday.

“One of Australia’s all-time greats, his career started in the NBL, before heading to Europe and then NBA. Ingles is currently with the Timberwolves as they approach the Playoffs.”

The five-time Olympian will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season and the chance to finish his career where it all started, could be the storybook ending on a very decorated career.

Ingles made history in 2007, setting the record for most points on debut by an Australian player, scoring 29 points for the South Dragons. He went on to win the NBL’s Rookie of the Year that season, before helping lead the Dragons to a Championship in 2009.
