The Boomers and Tall Blacks renew their rivalry as World Cup Qualifiers tip off in Hobart and Wellington.

It’s the Australian Boomers taking on the New Zealand Tall Blacks, with Tasmania and Wellington hosting a pair of World Cup Qualifiers this weekend.

What it means
Australia and New Zealand face off in Group A of the FIBA World Cup Asia Qualifiers, joined by the Philippines and Guam.

The teams will play two games each across this weekend, before further games at the end of February, then in July to round out the first group stage.

Across four groups, the top three teams from each will advance to the second round.

In all, eight teams from the Asia Qualifiers (including hosts Qatar automatically qualifying) will proceed to the FIBA World Cup in Qatar, which begins in August, 2027.
