'Best I've seen in Australia': High praise for Walker

NBL champion Joey Wright believes Melbourne United star Tyson Walker is the "best guard he's seen" in the NBL.
Three-time Coach of the Year Joey Wright has seen countless elite point guards play in the NBL over the years.
From former US guards such as Kevin Lisch, Gary Ervin, and Jerome Randle to the current crop including Kendric Davis and Parker Jackson-Cartwright, the NBL has been graced with plenty of amazing players of late.
But 2007 NBL champion with the Brisbane Bullets Wright believes Melbourne United's Tyson Walker, who is averaging 14.6 points, 4.7 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game, might be the best of the lot.
“We’ve got to say something about Tyson Walker. I seriously think he's the best point-guard that's been in this country since I've been here as a coach,” Wright said.
“I'm willing to debate that with anybody and I could debate any angle... his ability to score, play defence, understand timing, get his teammates involved, like he hits everything and I haven't seen a guard here hit everything.
“To me, that kid's an NBA player and I don't know why he's not there. Man, he's the best guard I've seen down here.”
Walker and his United side will look to improve on their 10-2 record on Saturday when they host Brisbane at John Cain Arena.
The Round 9 fixture tips off at 5.30pm AEDT, live on ESPN.
