REPORT: Former Next Star returns to Golden State

Former Sydney Kings Next Star Alex Toohey is reportedly returning to the Golden State Warriors on an Exhibit 10 training camp deal, where he was the 52nd overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.

Golden State’s ESPN reporter Anthony Slater, reported the news on Thursday, after Toohey missed the majority of his first season with a knee injury.

The 22-year-old was placed on a two-way contract after the draft but suffered his setback in the first month and struggled to make it back to the court.

“Warriors are pleased with how he's worked his way back and wanted to make sure he stayed within the franchise. The feel is, once he gets his feet back under him, Toohey could potentially work his way back to a two-way contract again,” ESPN’s Olgun Uluc added.

Toohey’s second season as a Next Star for the Kings in NBL25 helped launch him towards the draft, averaging over 10 points and four rebounds in just 22 minutes.
