Two-time Olympian Mark Worthington has labelled Adelaide’s historic loss to Sydney as an ‘old-fashioned beating down by the shed’.

Saturday’s Game 1 loss to Sydney was one for the record books for Adelaide, losing by 44 points at Qudos Bank Arena.

That loss marked the biggest in NBL Championship Game history, and on Tuesday’s NBL Now, dual Olympian Mark Worthington was honest in his assessment of the Sixers’ performance.

“It was just one of those old-fashioned beatings down by the shed, Adelaide seemed out of their depth,” Worthington said on NBL Now.

"[On the flip side] Goorj (Brian Goorjian) is known for saying, put your foot on their neck, and don't let them up for breath. That Kings’ team, they just piled it on, and it was a joy to watch.”

The fulcrum of that performance, which marked the Kings’ 14th straight win, was once again MVP runner-up Kendric Davis.

The American guard had 27 points and 7 assists in his NBL Championship Series debut, while he received support from big man Tim Soares (22 points and 8 rebounds).

“Adelaide don't have a person that they can defend KD at the moment,” Worthington said.

“The Kings are littered with X-factor players that did different things. I would just say to Tim Soares, if you can do that again, they're going to win a championship in three [games].”

In terms of adjustments, Worthington suggested coach Mike Wells might make another change to his starting lineup after recently inserting Dejan Vasiljevic for John Jenkins III.

“[Nick] Rakocevic had a really good Playoff series with a couple of double-doubles. I wouldn't be surprised if he started [Game 2],” he said.

The NBL26 Championship Series, between Sydney and Adelaide, continues on Friday from 7.30pm AEDT on Friday, live on ESPN and 10 Drama.
