NBL champion Pete Hooley says the Tasmania JackJumpers are a 'team that no one wants to face' down the stretch of the 2025-26 season.

Winners of three of their past four games, the Tasmania JackJumpers are proving to be a team that no one wants to play down the stretch.

Those trio of victories came against NBL contenders Melbourne, South East Melbourne and, most recently, Adelaide on the 36ers' home court.

Scott Roth's side, who are now healthy, have cemented their spot in the all important top six, establishing a three game lead on seventh placed New Zealand in the wins column.

"Injuries have always been their kryptonite, but they're now healthy and everyone is playing their role to perfection," NBL champion Pete Hooley said on Monday's episode of NBL Overtime.

"Against the two best teams in the league (Adelaide and South East Melbourne), they were defensively sound and executed their game plan. They took the pace and possessions out of the game and slowed it right down.

"They made both those sides shoot over them and finish through them, which is tough when Will Magnay, who is playing some unbelievable basketball, is anchoring their defence.

"This is not a team you want to face in a one off Play In game where the loser goes home. Then it's even more challenging if you can get into a three game Playoff setting with them."

With just eight games remaining on their Hungry Jack's NBL26 schedule, fellow NBL champion Damon Lowery believes the JackJumpers are one of the few teams he can "trust" heading into the pointy end of the season.

"When we get to the business end of the season and the Playoffs roll around, we're going to be talking about who can we trust," Lowery said.

"I trust the Tasmanian JackJumpers to not shoot themselves in the foot. I trust the Tasmanian JackJumpers to not play bad, selfish basketball.

"Tyger Campbell is great. He's a perfect point guard, who doesn't turn the ball over. Him and Ben Ayre have got that backcourt rock solid.

"Then they got a closer in Bryce Hamilton. They've got all the pieces there, and like you said, if you catch them at home, where they're now starting to win some home games, this is a team that can win the whole thing."

Next up for the JackJumpers are Melbourne United on Saturday night, as part of the 2026 HoopsFest in Perth.

The Round 17 fixture tips off at 9.30pm AEDT, live on ESPN.
