Two more teams clinch Finals spots

The Finals picture is sharpening as contenders lock in spots and others battle to stay alive late in the season.

The Sydney Kings and Melbourne United have officially clinched their spots in the Finals following their respective wins on Sunday.

Both teams moved to 18 wins on the season, locking in their top-six positions alongside the Adelaide 36ers and South East Melbourne Phoenix.

The Perth Wildcats have all but secured their Finals spot, sitting six wins clear of the seventh-placed New Zealand Breakers with six games remaining, and percentage the only deciding factor.

The Breakers (10 wins from 27 games) are still in the mix to catch the sixth-placed JackJumpers (12 wins from 28 games), while Illawarra (9 wins from 25 games) have three games in hand on Tasmania and remain very much in the hunt.

Cairns and Brisbane are still mathematically in contention, but it would take something of a miracle to close a significant percentage gap on sixth place and have results fall their way.
