Why one NBL champion thinks Bullets big is about to explode

The Brisbane Bullets have found on-court success hard to come by in recent seasons, but one constant has been the continued rise of big man Tyrell Harrison.

The 214-centimetre New Zealander averaged 15 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.4 blocks a game last season for the bottom-placed outfit - but one NBL insider believes he could be about to explode.

"I'm saying that Tyrell Harrison would be a top two to top three scorer in the league," NBL champion Damon Lowery said on The Roundtable.

"Now, Bryce [Cotton] averaged 26 last year with a very high usage ... I'm saying Tyrell Harrison, with the help of the Lithuanian maestro Arnas [Velička] - Tyrell is going to average ... I think 25.

"He will average about 22 plus. Layups and dunks. Lobs all over the place. He's in great shape.

"[He] can run the floor. His free throw percentage needs to lift, but he's going to get himself fouled a lot because he's around the basket. Will Weaver is going to utilise him the best he's ever been."

Lowery believes the recruitment of Velička will play right into Harrison's hands.

"Now he's finally got a lead point guard. He's never had a lead point guard like this before," he added.

Former MVP Derek Rucker agreed Harrison was in for a big year.

"I like it. I'm not sure about the scale of the numbers, but I think in terms of impact, I'm 100 per cent with you," he added.
