Steph Curry to Australia? Kerr backs blockbuster NBA visit

Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr says he’d love for his organisation to play fixtures in Australia in the future.
On the back of the historic NBAxNBL Series, which brought the New Orleans Pelicans to Melbourne in October, another team has expressed interest in visiting Australia.
During a recent press conference following his side’s one-point win over Memphis, Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr explained how he’d “love to” be involved in future NBAxNBL games in Australia.
“I'd love to head down there [to Australia],” Kerr said in the post-game press conference via Pedestrian Sport.
“I've been there twice and have got a lot of friends in Australia.
“It's a wonderful country, that’s basketball crazy.
“I would love to do that [play a game there] someday.”
Australia has numerous ties to Golden State, with current Sydney Kings assistant coach and co-owner Andrew Bogut winning an NBA championship with the organisation in 2015, while former NBL Next Star Alex Toohey was selected with the 52nd pick in the 2025 Draft by the Warriors.
Former Cairns Taipan Taran Armstrong was also on a two-way contract with Golden State in 2025.
Across the four days of the first-ever NBAxNBL Series, there were two exhibition games featuring the Pelicans, Melbourne United and South East Melbourne Phoenix, an opening training session and Fan Night, which attracted more than 60,000 people to Melbourne Park.
Round 21 of the Hungry Jack's NBL26 season tips off on Thursday, with Cairns hosting Melbourne from 7.30pm AEDT, live on ESPN.
