Tasmania coach Scott Roth believes the club's new high-performance facility will give the JackJumpers a genuine edge in recruiting the best talent from around the world.
The $20 million training centre in Kingston, which opened at the end of July, houses both the club's NBL and WNBL programs. The purpose-built facility includes courts, strength and conditioning spaces, recovery and treatment areas, team meeting rooms and integrated high-performance amenities.
"To come back [from the US] and walk in there, it was just overwhelming that, you know, this is ours and the space we [the JackJumpers and Jewels] have being in there," Roth said on 7HOFM. "The front office being around the corner and the facility just for our players in general.
"Kingston is going to be obviously a hot spot for everything that's in sports now in Tasmania, with the AFL going below us there.
"The building is incredible. It doesn't mean we're going to win more games, but it does give us an edge as far as recruiting. It does give us a standard that everyone else in Australia must meet.
"It's not just great for Tasmania, but it is the best facility in Australia."
The JackJumpers have already made several key moves in the off-season, with the signings of Australian Boomer and Tasmanian-born guard Taran Armstrong, emerging New Zealand centre Ben Gold and NBA-experienced sharpshooter Dakota Mathias.
"The big one obviously is Taran Armstrong being in market. Our first official kind of Tasmanian on our roster, but more importantly a high level player that is right now in Boomers' considerations and just came back from the Golden State Warriors and Dubai at the highest level you could play in Europe," Roth said.
"He gave us a call and said, 'I want to come back home. I want to play for you guys. I want to develop my game'. He's still young and so that's really a big signing for us."
Roth was also excited by the inclusions of former Philadelphia 76er and Memphis Grizzlies guard Dakota Mathias, and 6'11 big, 23-year-old Ben Gold.
"Everyone was after him [Gold] over the course of the last few months to try to sign him. We were lucky enough to land him," Roth added.
"Played in the US at a very, very high level at a very big school and been well coached and he's a Kiwi.
"He's quite versatile and we're really excited about his future with us."
Tasmania tips off its campaign at the CODE Sports NBL Blitz in Bendigo, taking on Brisbane on September 3.
