Talking points
Welcome back, Torrey
It’s been almost 10 years since the NBL saw Torrey Craig on the floor and now the NBA veteran returns for another stint to help push his Sydney team towards a title.
The 35-year-old was a dominant force for the Brisbane Bullets and Cairns Taipans, as he filled it up offensively and become a lockdown defender on the other end.
Now Craig joins a Kings team who have been battling through significant injuries and have still managed to put together some big performances.
Next man up
Just as the JackJumpers were hitting their straps, the team was dealt a huge blow with Will Magnay going down last round with a foot injury.
While he is the captain of this club, he means so much more to them on the court and was playing at a career-best level on both ends in recent weeks.
Without their foundational piece, Scott Roth will have to shuffle his rotation and perhaps play an entire new game style if they want to hold onto sixth spot.
What they're saying
Kings recruit Torrey Craig on the impact her can make on his team:
"Everywhere I've been, I've always tried to be a guy that can do multiple things, play multiple positions, and just be coachable and fit in easy with any group.
"I've kind of mastered that throughout my career, so I don't see it being any different here.
"It's a great group of guys, easy to play with, easy to get along with and talk to. I'm just excited to see what the rest of the season and the finals hold for us."
JackJumpers forward Majok Deng on embracing his life in Tasmania:
"It's turned out so well, because when I left Cairns I did find myself without a contract and that was the situation I was in, but to come down here and obviously as a player, you always want to be where you're wanted and appreciated.
"Me coming here is like something I did not think was going to be possible ,because every time I had come to Tassie before that, it was never really a place I could see myself playing at.
"But you get to Tassie and you get to live there and you get to appreciate not just because of the club, but the people in general. I like it here in Tassie now, I've obviously made a home for myself and it's been great so far."
