Nothing to declare: Hawks still scanning for new import

Illawarra are weighing up their options for a new import as coach Justin Tatum focuses on stability and momentum before the next roster move.
The Illawarra Hawks are taking a measured approach as they look to secure a new import, following their mutual split with JaQuori McLaughlin.
“If we can keep buying ourselves time, like we did this past Saturday, it's good for us and our camaraderie,” Hawks coach Justin Tatum said via the Illawarra Mercury.
“It's also good when somebody comes in, because we're not relying on someone to help us get out of the mud; we are already sustaining ourselves and playing well.”
The reigning champions finally got a win on the board on Saturday when they dismantled Brisbane in the first quarter and finished off the game strong.
Tatum said "it's a little difficult right now,” in terms of finding a replacement import, but that the team has “got a couple of good options.”
The importance of this piece has been further magnified due to the injury of Will Hickey, who Tatum had praised in the off-season and had been given the starting point guard duties.
"Hopefully, we get some good results [from the specialist] on Wednesday and we can start to implement plans to get Davo back on court," Tatum said.
"He hasn't run. He hasn't shot. He hasn't done anything. He was not allowed to. For his physical health, we want to make sure he gets at least about a week of training in before we give him the go-ahead to return to the court.”
The Hawks will travel to Melbourne on Saturday night for a Playoffs rematch with the South East Melbourne Phoenix.
