Bullets coach Stu Lash is proud of his side's ability to 'weather the storm' and fight back to defeat New Zealand.

The Brisbane Bullets didn’t let a double-digit deficit phase them on Thursday night, as they produced the biggest comeback of the Hungry Jack’s NBL26 season.

With 2.38 to play in the second quarter, Brisbane found themselves down 52-28 to the New Zealand Breakers following a Sam Mennenga triple.

But the Bullets didn’t drop their heads, outscoring their rivals 56-31 through the final 22.22 of action, to secure their third win of the campaign.

“This is the fight I’ve been talking about all year,” Lash said in Thursday’s post-game press conference.

“I loved the response from our group coming out from half-time, being able to weather the storm and show resiliency. It was a big-time performance.

“To hold the Breakers to 26 points in the second half is really impressive and I could go down the line and highlight the contribution of every single one of our players.”

One player who particularly shone was big man Tyrell Harrison, who finished with 16 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks.

“Ty would be the first to tell you he didn't have the best first half there, but then comes out and just totally dominates the second half of the game,” Lash said.

“(Sam) Mennenga only had four or five points and sometimes it doesn’t always show up on the stat sheet how important Ty is to our defence.

“He is our anchor and we don’t hold New Zealand to 26 second-half points without him.”

The Tall Blacks centre is proud of how his playing group have stuck together, despite the challenges along the way.

“We've had a pretty interesting start to the season, with all these injuries and key players going down for us,” Harrison said.

“But we’ve had some chats as a team and reiterated to everyone the importance of just taking a per cent forward step each day.

“I’m super-proud of the way the boys went about it in the second half to get the win.”

The Bullets, who are now 3-5, next play South East Melbourne on Saturday at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.
