Chris Goulding says Tyson Walker does things others simply can’t, and United need that spark in their sudden-death clash with Tasmania.

Heading into their elimination Play-In Qualifier against Tasmania, Melbourne United knows the importance of import duo Tyson Walker and Milton Doyle.

Not including the injured Shea Ili, Walker (4.4) and Doyle (2.9) have United’s highest plus/minus marks, highlighting their impact on the court.

Backing that up is the fact they are also the team’s top two scorers during the Hungry Jack’s NBL26 season, with Doyle and Walker averaging 16.2 and 14.6 points respectively.

Their importance isn’t lost on their teammates.

“Tys does some things at practice that literally will blow your mind, so giving him that confidence to come out, be aggressive and get on the front foot, so we can play off that,” Chris Goulding said at the NBL Finals Launch.

“[While] Milt is an offensive bucket getter and ready to shine at this time of year.

“We're a group that needs everyone to be playing well and for a lot of the parts of the year, guys haven't been playing well. Some have been playing great and you mix and match that.

“We're hoping that at this part of the year we can all get on a little groove and show the team we can be.”

One player that knows firsthand how good United and Walker can be is Breakers import guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright.

“Melbourne, they have the pedigree. You can never count them out,” Jackson-Cartwright said.

“If they're in the Play-In, they're going to find a way.

“We've seen when he [Walker] is aggressive and he's really taken the reins along with Milton Doyle and all the guys that they have.

“But when Walker takes his play to a next level, I think their team is different.”

United host the JackJumpers from 7.30pm AEDT on Thursday night at John Cain Arena.
