NBL veteran Kyle Adnam believes Matthew Dellavedova is the Kings’ ‘defensive Joker Card’ against Perth.

Sydney is now just one win away from the Hungry Jack’s NBL26 Championship Series after Wednesday night’s thrilling one point win over Perth.

But the Wildcats, whose season is on the line, will have plenty of confidence playing at home in Game 2 of the Playoff Series.

That sentiment is felt by NBL veteran Kyle Adnam, who was on Saturday’s episode of NBL Now.

“Perth should have got over the line [in Game 1], so I think they'll take a bit of confidence from that,” Adnam said via NBL Now.

“Going home to The Jungle, there’s going to be 14,000 people, in one of the hardest places to play in the NBL, so they've got their home crowd behind them.

“They've got a lot of confidence. I'm not in the inner sanctum, but as a player, you're always trying to draw on positives.”

On the flipside, one positive that the Kings found, according to Adnam, was the defensive exploits of Matthew Dellavedova.

“Sydney has this little Joker Card that they're able to throw, which is Delly,” he said.

“They threw him onto Kristian Doolittle [late in Game 1]. He is a guard, but he's physical and strong, which allows them to put length off the ball.”

While Adnam is unfortunately not taking part in this season’s Playoff Series, he is thoroughly enjoying the level of play to date.

“As a basketball junkie, we love to see it [games like we’ve had],” he said.

“This is some of the best basketball that we've seen all year. It's been an incredible season,

“[Bryce] Cotton, Doolittle, [Nathan] Sobey and KD (Kendric Davis), they all came to play, and I think as fans that's what we love to see.

“Typically, in Finals basketball, the pace slows, but in this instance, we didn't see that.

“We saw high scoring games, we saw really efficient basketball being played, and for me, that was the best thing to watch.”

Saturday’s Playoff double header tips off at 5.30pm AEDT with South East Melbourne hosting Adelaide, before Perth plays Sydney at 8pm AEDT.
