The National Basketball League (NBL) has recorded yet another strong period of broadcast audience growth, with ESPN driving a substantial uplift in viewership at the halfway point of the season.

The NBL’s overall viewership for regular season games on ESPN’s primary platforms is up 20%, reinforcing the League’s position as Australia’s fastest-growing sport and ESPN’s standing as the “Home for Hoops”.

“These numbers are a testament to the growth and strength of our League and the growing number of people falling in love with elite basketball in Australia and New Zealand,” NBL Group CEO, David Stevenson said.

Meanwhile free to air coverage on Network 10 has also shown remarkable growth, with Sunday’s primary channel broadcast at 2.30pm (AEDT) up 49% in average audience, while the second game at 4.30pm (AEDT) on 10Drama is up 33% in average audience.

“To see viewership on ESPN up 20% and Network 10’s primary channel up almost 50% shows the NBL’s connection with fans has never been stronger," Stevenson said.

"We are reaching more people than ever before, supported by the continued growth of our marquee moments, the impact of elite talent across the League, and the added global interest generated through our relationships with the NBA and competitions like the Pavlos Giannakopoulos Tournament."

The combined growth across ESPN and Network 10 reflects the momentum of the NBL’s broadcast footprint as the League continues to expand its reach both domestically and internationally.

“The consistency of our broadcast schedule from Wednesday through to Sunday, the success of new initiatives like the Ignite Cup, and the added intrigue brought about by marquee matchups, rivalries and world-class players are all contributing to this sustained momentum,” Stevenson said.

“This phenomenal growth underlines the value we continue to deliver our fans and partners, and we’re incredibly grateful for the support of ESPN, Network 10, all NBL clubs, our players and our commercial partners.

"Together, we are elevating the NBL on every platform, and we remain focused on delivering a premium, consistent and enjoyable experience for fans.

"The signs are incredibly positive, we’re reaching more fans, they’re watching for longer, and the NBL continues to take giant strides forward in Australia and around the world.”

Every game of The Hungry Jack’s NBL can be viewed live on ESPN, with Sunday games available on Network 10 and 10Drama.
