"Best versions of ourselves": Kings' future excites KD

Kendric Davis says his Sydney Kings are "stacking days" to be the "best versions of ourselves come February and March."
Superstar guard Kendric Davis and his Sydney Kings had a weekend to remember in Round 7.
Sitting at 3-5 and with their season in the balance, the Kings produced massive road wins against the Brisbane Bullets and the previously unbeaten Melbourne United.
Across those two resounding wins, Davis scored 19 and a season-high 34 points.
But the 26-year-old guard, who finished second in last season's MVP race, explained while his harbour city side are thrilled with the pair of wins, they still have plenty of work to do.
"It was good to get those two wins and we're excited for the future, but we know we need to get better," Davis said in an interview with Kings Media.
"We're nowhere near where we want to be as a group, which is the exciting part.
"We'll just continue to put the work and hours in, stacking days and be the best versions of ourselves come February and March."
Davis is producing strong numbers across the board, to the tune of 23.3 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists in his second year in the NBL.
But the University of Memphis alum believes the key to his success is his coaching staff, headlined by Brian Goorjian, and teammates.
"My teammates putting me in great positions [to succeed], led by our leaders Delly (Matthew Dellavedova) and X (Xavier Cooks)," Davis said.
"We have great people on and off the floor, with good chemistry.
"We know we've had some games that we should have won, but when we come back into practice next, no one is down and the energy is always high and focused on how we can get better."
Davis, a member of the 2024 NBA G League All-Rookie Team, and his Kings host New Zealand on Sunday from 4.30pm AEDT, live on ESPN and 10 DRAMA.
