“We want to get back at them”: Breakers eye Ignite Cup revenge

Parker Jackson-Cartwright and his New Zealand Breakers are determined to create history and win some silverware for the club.
After finishing their Hungry Jack’s NBL26 regular season on a high note on Thursday, the New Zealand Breakers will be looking to do the same in Sunday’s Ignite Cup Final.
Not only that, it gives both the Breakers and Adelaide 36ers the chance to create history and take home the first-ever Ignite Cup crown.
The enormity of the occasion isn’t lost on Breakers point guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright.
“It’s been a unique tournament, but you could say we've played our best basketball during the Ignite Cup games,” Jackson-Cartwright said to The All Sport Breakfast.
“But it's a great incentive for us to go win something, win some hardware and play for some prize money.
“We know guys will be up for that game and it's going to be a great test for us, as everything’s on the line.”
To claim the silverware and part of the record $400,000 prize pool, the Breakers are going to have to overcome Adelaide, who have won all three matchups between the two sides this season.
“They're so unique in how they play,” Jackson-Cartwright said.
“Obviously they have Bryce, but they have guys around him who could stretch the floor, while being well coached. It's just going to be a great game on both sides.
“We've just played them recently, so we feel like we learnt a lot from that and want to get back at them.
“Obviously, this is different from a regular season game but we’re ready for whatever it entails to win come Sunday.”
Sunday’s historic fixture tips off at 4.30pm AEDT, live on ESPN and Channel 10, with a $300,000 prize up for grabs for the winners.
